30 TRICKS TO DECORATE YOUR HOME

A NEUTRAL BASE

It is a safe bet to later give color and character with details. Bet on walls and sofas of light tones and leave the color notes to stand out and give personality for cushions, paintings, carpets and small accessories. In addition, they are the easiest (and cheapest) to renew according to trends.

SYMMETRY, ALLY OF ORDER

And also of space. And it is that a room with a symmetrical distribution of furniture, like this one, will always be visually tidier and wider than one in disorder.

HOW TO DECORATE THE COFFEE TABLE

We like personal tables, but also tidy. That is why it is always better to have two large objects that understand each other than many small pieces. Thus, you avoid a confusing and messy result. Some books of photography or art that you like to browse, a natural bouquet or trays where grouping the different objects are a success.

DO NOT MISS THE COVERS ON THE SOFA

Or the armchairs. They are such a practical resource, to protect the sofa, as decorative, especially if you bet on natural fabrics. Linen is one of our star fabrics to make covers, because it has movement, weight, it is very natural and, despite its wrinkles, it is elegant.

ON THE COUCH, THE FAIR CUSHIONS

Neither few nor many. Ideally, place one more than the squares that the sofa has. That is, if the sofa is three, with four cushions will suffice.

DRESSING THE SOFA

A plaid or a blanket in winter will help you give more movement to the sofa and, if it is very straight, subtract stiffness. Place them informally on the armrest and the living room will look more vivid and cozy.

BASKETS, THE GREAT WILD CARD

Notice: they are never missing in our homes. And is that the baskets are not only super practical for storing sofa cushions, blankets or plaids or even the magazines we are browsing, but they are decorative on their own.

DECORATIVE BOOKCASE AND IN ORDER

To do this you must breathe. How? Combining books with objects that give air (a photo, a plant …). But without going over, because 60% of the bookstore space should be occupied by books. 30% should be empty. And the remaining 10% can be decorative objects.

DECORATE WITH FLOWERS

In the living room, creating three green dots, either plant or flower, is key. For example, on the side table, the center table and the mantelpiece. Of course, they must have a link, as the same flower or share shades.

RECOVER, REUSE AND REVIVE

The pieces of almoneda or recovered , like this coffee table, give character to any environment, making it more vivid and personal. If you are good at crafts, you can also tune them yourself.

THE LENGTH OF THE CURTAIN

In El Mueble we like the curtains to rest on the floor, so in the long run we always add about 10 cm more. And a trick: if you fear that the fabric shrinks after the first wash, add about 5 cm more “just in case”.

GROWING WINDOWS

To make the windows look taller than it really is enough to place the curtain rod as close as possible to the ceiling and not just where the window profiles end. Not only will you give more height to the room, but it will also seem wider!

PLAY WITH THE MIRRORS

They are a must in a furniture house . Hanging, on a piece of furniture or even resting on the floor. In the latter case, being somewhat inclined, the mirror will reflect part of the ceiling and the space will be wider. It’s a good trick for the back wall of a hallway, the entrance or the dressing room.

THE POWER OF CANDLES

They cannot be missing in a furniture house . Not only do they create a more cozy and intimate atmosphere, but they also highlight areas that went unnoticed. If you choose them with aroma, in addition, you will perfume the house. A very decorative trick is to place lanterns with candles along the corridor – one every meter – and light them in the afternoon. You will see how space is transformed.
